Pulse Signal

A pulse signal is a signal output by sensors that detect values such as rotation speed, velocity, and totalized flow.
Pulse signals can have various waveforms, including:

  1. Square wave (a wave shaped like gear teeth)
  2. Sine wave (output from devices such as tachogenerators, where voltage changes according to frequency)
  3. Triangle wave (a wave with a triangular shape)
  4. Sawtooth wave (a wave resembling the teeth of a saw)

Sensors most commonly output pulse signals as square waves. Typical uses include flow meters (totalizing), electricity meters, counters, and rotary encoders (two-phase pulses).
