Electric Power

Electric power represents the amount of electrical work done per second, and its unit is the watt [W]. If voltage is V [V] and current is I [A], then:

  • For direct current (DC):                   P = VI [W]
  • For single-phase alternating current (AC):          P = VIcosθ [W]
  • For three-phase alternating current (AC):          P = √3 VIcosθ [W]
