An isolated converter is the most standard type of converter and is also called an isolator.
As the name suggests, it provides isolation between input and output. It may also perform signal level conversion at the same time.
The roles of an isolated converter include:
- Preventing signal loops with current signals, etc.
- Standardizing electrical signals
- Protecting equipment
- Filtering (reducing or eliminating noise)
- Clarifying points of responsibility demarcation
and so on.
