Strain Gauge

A device made from metal or certain types of semiconductors, which changes its electrical resistance when subjected to elastic deformation due to an applied load. This property is utilized by applying a constant voltage and detecting changes in the resulting current.
Strain gauges are used by attaching them to the elastically deformable sensing part inside load cells, among other applications.
