SPD

SPD stands for Surge Protective Device.
It is a device designed to limit transient overvoltages and divert surge currents.
In the Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) for lightning protection, low-voltage arresters specified for this purpose are referred to as SPDs.
These devices were traditionally known as lightning arresters, arresters, or surge absorbers.
