Backflow Lightning Surge

A backflow lightning surge occurs when, during a lightning strike to a building, the grounding resistance is not sufficiently low, causing a portion of the lightning current to flow into power supply lines or communication lines supplying electricity to electrical equipment.
Additionally, the term “backflow lightning” can also refer to cases where a nearby lightning strike causes the ground potential to rise, resulting in current flowing from the grounding line into the building or equipment.
